Mel's story
In January 2023 Mel Crossland received a life-changing brain tumour diagnosis. What began as her own deeply personal journey has now grown into a powerful movement for improved care and outcomes for people facing a similar diagnosis. Her courage and determination in turning her own experience into a force for good has touched the hearts of many.
So far, with the support of over 260 donors, her campaign has raised over £57,000 towards the purchase of a state-of-the-art portable MRI scanner—an essential piece of equipment that will significantly enhance diagnostic capabilities and improve outcomes for large numbers of patients in Leeds. A portable MRI scanner will help people to be diagnosed earlier, reduce the number of surgeries needed, and enable parents to physically be there for their children during brain scans.
